I heard this on the radio this morning, and was alarmed to see that i hadn't already posted it here. Emma Kirkby is a favourite of mine, but Lucia Popp is a revalation. I think the chorus go slightly OTT though.
Apparently Mozart wrote this immediately after being ditched by a heart-throb. I do wish he'd lived twice as long; hell - three times as long!
